Groupama 3: a studious summer...

Back in the Multiplast yard for the past four months the trimaran Groupama 3, holder of the Atlantic record and the greatest distance covered in 24 hours, is gradually returning to its original form.

Despite the summer period, the technicians have been busying themselves on deck and in the workshops. Whilst the new floats are in the process of being made, the Groupama design office is devoting part of its time to the optimisation of the platform.

At Multiplast, Loïc Le Mignon and Samuel Thomas are putting this into place. The second helmsman during the attempt at the Jules Verne Trophy, Loïc is keeping in mind the fact that the seas can be nasty. Added to this he is well aware that in order to win you first have to finish.

A little further forward of the central hull, the board sport specialist Michel Letty is working patiently. With an electric sander in his hand, centimetre by centimetre, he is removing the paint from Groupama 3, which will be decked out in its new colours for the coming season.
