The organisation has delayed the start by at least 24 hours. What is it like to deal with these delays, of which there have been a vast number this year?

We're beginning to get used to it. It's difficult because we organise ourselves with a countdown in terms of the preparation of the boat and the crew to set off at the allotted time - midday on Sunday. We've now been forced to postpone it by 24 hours, with a depression which will stay on zone for 3-4 days, in the hope that the depression is not as deep as forecast. For the time being however it looks like very strong winds, in excess of 40 knots for certain, in areas which are not renowned for being easy, such as the tip of Cornwall or the Fastnet. As a result the organisers are not too keen to send off 300 boats under such conditions. With our multihulls, it's possible that we could have got past the worst of the gales thanks to our speed by leaving on Sunday. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the rest of the fleet, so we'll wait here with the others, though to my mind it will be a lot trickier for the multihulls to leave on Monday. We'll have to make a decision if the organisation decide on the latter. We'll know more tomorrow and the next day.
