| Since 2004, I've been following the construction of the Groupama boats very closely, that's to say the year of the launch
of the ORMA 60 trimaran Groupama 2 then that of the maxi trimaran Groupama 3.

 The Groupama Team

| I've gained experience in working in a team: how you work, where you want to go in terms of reliability and performance
and what method to use to enable you to reach the objectives that have been set.

 Multiplast
|
| From the construction of Groupama 3 at Multiplast, I know the strengths and, at times, the weaknesses too of a yard,
which is constantly moving forward, from the construction of multihulls honed for offshore racing through to America's Cup
Class boats, and which now collaborates with the very demanding aeronautical industry too.

 The monohull
|
| In relation to the two Groupama trimarans, the future Groupama 4 will also be equipped with a deck, a hull, bulkheads
and some interior fit out. The parts will be manufactured with the same care even though, at times, the materials used won't
be identical. The difficulty of the multiple beam-hull assemblies may well have disappeared, but the points of detail resulting
from a strict class measurement and boats designed for both inshore and offshore races, are very well presented, with a huge
amount of pressure on the team in charge of the construction.

 The Box Rule
|
| The rules impose thorough respect of the geometry and the weight. The class measurers will even go so far as to drill
holes in various places on the hull and deck to take samples and check that our boat fully respects the masses of the prefabricated
sections imposed by the rule. The stakes for the construction team involve keeping the imposed weight to the bear minimum.

 A human adventure
|
| These next few months in the yard will certainly be a fine adventure from a human aspect, in a team which is opening
up internationally. For the rest, we're trying to leave as little room as possible for anything unforeseen, even though we
know that in any construction errors can slip in. The aim is to constantly track these down so that Groupama 4 can cover the
39,270 miles over four oceans in less than nine months in the best possible conditions as regards reliability and performance,
not to mention the miles covered during training between March and October 2011.
