Speed loverWith his contagious laughter and unfailing enthusiasm, Stève is a sailor one likes to sail with. A native of the Vaud canton,
nothing could have predicted this young Swiss a brilliant sailing career.
Keen on hand-gliding and motorbike scrambling
in his youth, it is naturally on the waters of Lake Leman that Stève discovers sailing. Very quickly, he buys a 20-foot catamaran,
then a 40-foot one... and takes part in different competitions. A speed lover, Stève develops a passion for multihulls and
clocks the miles on board these machines.

Rejoining the Groupama teamIn 1998, he draws attention on the Route du Rhum by taking the start on a once Formula 40 trimaran, a "beach engine" borrowed
and customised for the occasion. Stève wins the race hands down in his category, earning him the respect of all skippers who
appreciate performance for their true worth. Among these sailors... is Franck Cammas, who invites him to come on board his
brand new 60-footer. Offshore and on the Grand Prix, Stève will participate in all Groupama's sailing adventures from 1999
to 2002. During the intense moments of this period, one remembers the two men coming second in the 1999 Transat Jacques Vabre,
and especially their victory two years later in this same event.
In 2002, strengthened by this experience gained,
Stève sets about heading his own projects. At the helm of Technomarine, then of Orange, the Swiss will let his talent do the
talking without, nevertheless, being crowned with the laurels he so much deserves.
This year to everyone's joy, Stève
is back within the Groupama team. Chosen by Franck Cammas to accompany him on the Transat Jacques Vabre on board Groupama
2, he will also be one of the maxi-trimaran's three watch captains. Helming, sail-trimming, cooking and filming will be part
of his daily job during the records.
