Bruno Laurent

Groupama 2 Boat Captain

Joining the Groupama team in 2006, Bruno Laurent is the 60-footer's boat captain. Bruno is at Franck's side on all Groupama 2's sailing trips, be it inshore regattas, when his role is pitman, or when racing offshore. Versatile Bruno, fully entrusted by Franck, skilfully leads the 60-footer's technical team.

But before joining the Groupama team, independent worker Bruno put his expertise to other projects: his sailing history started in 1990
on the Tour de France à la Voile with Thierry Peponnet. In 1993, he was part of the event's winning crew with Marc Pajot.

From there, for two years he gets involved in the America's Cup as part of Team Pajot. In 1997, a contract takes him to Italy where he meets Giovanni Soldini. He will participate in the last stages of the construction of his monohull before accompanying him both ashore and at sea for nearly 4 years. In 2001, Giovanni, from then on sailing on multihull, entrusts him with the helm of his monohull on the Transat Jacques Vabre. Bruno and his team-mate are ranked 6th. Lastly, until last year, he had rejoined the team of the trimaran Banque Populaire.

Besides this, Bruno practices cross-country skiing, mountain-bike and is a Judo black belt.
