Americans in Lorient: Season 2
|
| For the second time this year, from 9th to 12th June Franck Cammas played host to the BMW Oracle team aboard the trimaran
Groupama 2 in Lorient, France.
|

Seconded by Bruno Laurent, the skipper Groupama was once again able to appreciate the organisation and determination of the
American crew, who will be attempting to snatch victory in the 33rd America's Cup from the Swiss titleholders: "The
majority of the crew present in Lorient for this second session were just finding their way around Groupama 2. For these four
days of sailing, we benefited from some superb weather conditions coloured by both wind and sun, which was exactly what happened
in April too. As a result, the Americans think we have great weather all the time here" laughed Franck who went on
to add: "As we were sailing on our own, we worked on the manoeuvres, the passages at the marks, as well as reducing
the sail area".
Julien Di Biase, sports coordinator for the US team and talented sailor concludes: "We
were really warmly welcomed once again in Lorient by the Groupama team. They are very professional and we've learnt a great
deal. We'll be back."
Barely had the sails been folded when the skipper of Groupama set off for Lake Geneva
to participate in the 70th edition of the Bol d'Or in... a multihull.
