Franck Cammas - Profile

Born in Aix-en-Provence on 22nd December 1972
Thoughtful but naturally cheerful, he remains for many an enigma. The 35 years old Mediterranean arrived late into racing, but is today one of the most experienced skippers of the ORMA trimaran circuit.

A 60 foot Multihull at 25 years old

By giving him the helm of a brand new multihull at the age of 25, Groupama, his faithful sponsor, had counted on youth and talent... Great satisfaction, ten years later, he is five times ORMA World Champion and carried out a grand slam in Grand Prix races in 2006.

A competitor at heart, Franck never misses an opportunity to get on board other types of sailing boat: Open 7.50, Mumm 30, Figaro Bénéteau 2... And if the sea is a privileged companion in his life, he is above all a fan of great outdoor, eager for freedom and adrenaline. A mountain addict, he is a keen skier and practices other alpine sports. Good ways to keep in shape!

A true instinct of competition

True to his values, faithful to his team, Franck is a happy sailor, but the competitor is never completely satisfied. His ambitions being supported by Groupama, with whom he is contracted until 2011, Franck will continue to give everything, as he faces the challenges ahead.

No matter what, he posses the true competitor's instinct. His long time accomplice, Stéphane Guilbaud, summarizes their working system, which is more than just a state of mind: "With Franck, there is no finishing line. For us, victories are not an end, but always the beginning of new story."

A 105 foot trimaran in 2006

A new story that unfurled naturally with the launch, on July 7th 2006, of the 105 foot trimaran - Groupama 3. On board this new board, Franck and his team will attempt to break new records, without leaving the ORMA class circuit and its race program.
