The records of Groupama 3

In 2007, the maxi trimaran Groupama 3 started its maritime adventure with its first breaking record campaign.
Four records was on the programme, plus a round the world - Jules Verne Trophy - at the end of the year.
2009
will involve a wealth of sailing for Franck Cammas and his crew, with three record attempts in the Mediterranean, the
Atlantic and finally around the World.

following the breakage of Groupama 3s port float. 24 hours ahead of the reference time set by the current Jules Verne Trophy
record holder when the incident occurred, the crew was airlifted to safety by helicopter before heading back to the zone to
rescue Groupama 3.

Mediterranean crossing record
17 hours 56 minutes and 33 seconds

capsize during the Jules Verne Trophy attempt, Franck and his men have snatched a fifth reference time, improving on the previous
time set by Bruno Peyron in 2004 by 48 minutes and 10 seconds. Groupama 3 covered the 458 miles separating Marseilles from
Carthage in 17 hours 08 minutes and 23 seconds at an average speed of 26.72 knots.
