Extreme Sailing Series - Euro

Extreme Sailing Series is once again gathering together all the ingredients for an enthralling and hotly contested competition.

Five to six races are run per day, each lasting around twenty minutes. This all plays out in front of an increasingly large
public. Suffice to say that at this pace, the crews don't have time to catch their breath.
The slightest mistake
costs dearly and the opportunities to make up your losses are few and far between. In these conditions, the balance between
risk taking and safety is hard to find. And in any case, manoeuvring to perfection and avoiding the penalties imposed straightaway
is imperative.
At this little game, Oman Masirah was imperial in 2009, followed closely by Gitana Extreme
and Oman Renaissance.
Often inspired but too inconsistent last year, the crew of Groupama 40 will have
their work cut out in 2010 when they find themselves up against some crews for whom the Extreme 40 circuit is the main
objective.

Racing steeds!!!The creators of the Extreme 40 catamaran took the largest and fastest of the Olympic class boats and doubled its size for
even greater power.
Action and adrenalin make up the basic elements on an Extreme 40. There isn't a racing boat
fleet that can match the Extreme 40 in terms of speed and her ability to put on a show. Without a keel these
catamarans can sail in shallow waters and provide spectators with some explosive action scenes.
In a breeze and with
little resistance on the water, the Extreme 40s literally take off like planes. In scarcely 15 knots of breeze, they can reach
speeds of over 25 knots.
