Last day of racing
|
| Extreme Sailing Series 2010 |
| For this last day of racing, the wind has kicked in across the race zone in Sète. Blowing in from the West, it is set to provide
the competitors with a good twenty or so knots of breeze today.
|

In order to prevent the crews and the eight boats from suffering too much, the race committee could, from 1315 hrs, force
them to reduce their sail area by getting them to put one reef in their mainsails. Furthermore, they may not have to apply
the fifth man rule, so as to avoid needlessly exposing the happy representatives to the wet and windy conditions on the water.
Suffice
to say that the day is likely to be pretty full-on. It's also going to be tense as the ranking is far from being set in stone.
However some have a lot to lose, while others have a lot to gain.
Fourth in the provisional general ranking, Groupama
40 is still in with a chance of making the top three if the crew sail well. If the contrary is true, they could also drop
three places.
However, Franck Cammas and his crew like sailing in breezy conditions, so it remains to be seen if
that's the case for the others too.
We'll find out the answer at 1700 hours, when the prize-giving for the first
of the five stages of the Extreme Sailing Series 2010 is held.
