Sailing with six crew per boat, which Franck Cammas was telling us about : "On a "regatta" format like this afternoon, we are more accustomed to being ten on board. Here, we will be only six... We will just have to be aware of the temptation to sail as if we were ten, and to fully anticipate manoeuvres, reaching buoys... It is all a question of being prepared".

In the programme : a start offshore Gâvres point, heading to Groix, then the Pointe du Talut, followed by a sail around the island of Groix to finish off. And a good Southwesterly breeze awaits the crew for this dry run.

Weather conditions commented on by Romain Attanasio, navigator of Groupama 2 on the AS Lease Challenge : "For the Prologue today we have manageable conditions. Offshore Groix we should sail with a Southwesterly breeze of about twenty knots. We will be well protected by Groix at the beginning of the coastal course. On the other hand, with a sail around the island in the programme, this is when we should come across a bigger sea. It is normal, a strong South-West wind has been blowing for a week, so there is a big sea offshore..." Romain goes on to add : "After that, things should get a bit trickier ! This cyclone will be arriving in the Gascon Gulf tomorrow - Sunday - and could generate winds of 40 knots. In any case, this is the forecast today, and it often falls short of reality. This is the reason for the Organisers' decision to bring the start of the offshore race forward".
