Bigger than sport: the sea

 

The relationship Groupama enjoys with the sea is not limited to sailing. Because the sea is as captivating as it is demanding, it has become a special place for Groupama to express itself. Beyond sport, the Group engages in specific prevention initiatives.

"Sauvegarde Junior" [junior lifesaving]: this programme, which Franck Cammas sponsors, welcomes more than 120,000 young people every year to the seashore to teach them the dangers of sea and sun.

"Appel d'air": this programme offers sick children the chance to sail and forget their health problems, if only for a moment. Groupama sponsors the programme through its Groupama Foundation for health.

Football and rugby: Groupama shows a united front

Groupama has long supported team sports at the local and regional levels. And because football and rugby are the most popular sports of all, the Group has sponsored some of the most prestigious clubs in France since 2006.

 

Local partnerships for national awareness

Thanks to 10 regional mutuals and its network of local mutuals deeply routed throughout the country, Groupama has been a long-time hands-on sponsor of local sports clubs. Since 2006, the Group has broadened its funding policy by also supporting prestigious League 1 and Top 14 French championship clubs.

Olympique de Marseille: as a 2010 champion and the most popular club in France, OM is the only French club to have won the Coupe d'Europe des Clubs Champions and its notoriety goes far beyond France's borders. Started by Groupama Alpes Méditerranée, this partnership is actively supported by Groupama S.A.

Olympique Lyonnais: unbeatable champion of the millennium's first decade, crowned 7 times in a row, the OL symbolises success, consistency and the vindication of a certain vision of football based on the training of young people. Groupama Rhône-Alpes Auvergne is a privileged team sponsor, supported by Groupama S.A.

AJ Auxerre: As an atypical club, AJ Auxerre represents the success of local football in a city whose roots are unapologetically rural. In its legendary Abbé Deschamps stadium, the former Vaux seating gallery has been rechristened "Groupama gallery".

Stade Toulousain: As a 17-time rugby champion in XV and four-time European champion, the Stade Toulousain is the rugby club which has won the most trophies in France.

 

A fresh impetus in 2010

In 2010, Groupama renewed its partnership with these teams for a minimum of three years. The Group had intuition: in the same year, the 3 clubs finished on the podium at the French League 1 championship and lifted French football colours high for all Europe to see. The Group is also betting on League 2 teams like Le Mans FC, which is supported locally by the Groupama Centre Manche regional mutual.

Groupama's commitment to sports does not stop with French teams: internationally most of its subsidiaries are also involved in sponsorships, a sign of the Group's unity.
